Welcome to Critical Eye Film Reviews
A place to view honest reviews and critique of films both past and present, by none other than cinema buffs MG & JB!
Based in Melbourne, Australia, and reviewing to you wide across the globe. Enjoy!
About MG:
MG is none other than Critical Eye reviewer and co-founder, Matthew Goodwin. A mega film buff who appreciates the really good stuff, and isn’t afraid to tell it how it is for the cruddy stuff. A movie man on a mission. Boom!
“Here on Critical Eye, we’re not like other film reviewers out there. We’ll call it out if it’s rubbish. No sugar coating here. And if it’s flippin’ awesome amazeballs, 10 for me.”
A keen eye for the details than make great film, and a tendency to watch too many movies.
“Sometimes it feels like I do watch too many movies, but hey, I can’t help myself!
I’m pretty open minded to all genres of film. And it really isn’t hard to get the formula right. Some directors out there just have too much money, and freedom, inevitably serving up slush.
I’ll rate a 10 if I thoroughly enjoyed it and can re-watch over and over again in the future.
Anything 8-9 is well worth a watch, 5-7 is enjoyable, and below this is average, not much chop or total rubbish, and a waste of our time.”
About JB:
Hi! I’m Critical Eye reviewer and co-founder Jeremy Bianco.
An introvert drawn to the solitary creative fields of art, design, writing (who knew) and of course; film appreciation.
My favourite film is ‘A Very Long Engagement’ (2004) Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, though I have never reviewed it because my words simply cannot do it justice.
I am also a lover of classic films and cinema from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I have the largest private collection of classic cinema that I know about. These classics are also off limits to reviews, but some of my most loved titles include: The Bandwagon (1953) Gigi (1958) Funny Face Face (1957) Singin’ In The Rain (1952) Top hat (1935) To Catch a Theif (1955) North by North West (1959) & Easter Parade (1948).
I am also a huge Tom Cruise fan and have seen every one of his films. Some of his finest work includes – his entire career spanning the last 3 and a half decades!
Ok that’s enough about me – I will give you my honest opinion and try to focus on the good over the bad.
This blog is for celebrating film! Thanks for reading.
